CHARACTERISTICS OF MOROCCAN AMETHYST
Moroccan Amethyst represents one of the newest varieties of gemstone to be found, and certainly one of the most recent to set the bar on a global scale.
In the past ‘Siberian Amethyst’ was the standard-setter when it came to globally regarded Amethyst, however, material from Morocco stands out for two phenomena :

Microscropic Needles
The first is the “Microscopic Hematite inclusions ” that permeate throughout this material. They have been found to follow the general direction of the growth of the crystal, which is unique in the stone and gem’s world.

Pleochroism as Tanzanite
The second phenomenon, Amethyst from this origin exhibitspleochroism , which is the same property that makes tanzanite appear to have flashes of purple, blue, and red. The Hematite needles create this rare phenomenon within the Quartz family which means that when light hits the gem, shades of different colors such as reds and blues can be seen from different angles, despite the fact that these inclusions are often not visible unless under microscope
