We are pleased to present the stunning “Moroccan Amethyst” from one of the newest, late 20th century discoveries ! The “Tata Mine” is located in the southern part of Morocco. It produced one of the recent finest amethyst in the world with Siberian color and a rare pleochroism, that makes appear flashes of purple, blue, and red that sets the standard for excellence internationally.

MINE SITE AND LOCATION
The Moroccan Amethyst mine is located in the southern east part of Morocco. The mining site is 1800 meters above sea level and located in the arid Central Anti-Atlas Mountain Range. Predictably, lack of water and electrical power are major mining challenges, as well as soaring summer temperatures which regularly reach over 49°C. It is in these mountains, some 450 million (Lower Cambrian) years old, the precious Amethyst is buried, scattered across hundreds of square meters.
